working on embroidery designs. - cow parsley.

To simplify the complexity of the flowers I printed out a photograph and drew in the main shapes, and highlighted particular flower heads that were prominent.

I then drew this out on paper to get a feel for the shape of the design, and also practised drawing the individual flower shapes a few times.

Then without marking the fabric it's over to the sewing machine, set up for free motion and draw with the needle.

I then repeated the steps to create some of the foliage. So delicate and pretty!

the great big stitched post card swap - by Do What you Love

 

I recently took part in "the great big stitched post card swap" organized by Do What You Love.

 

I took tiny scraps of liberty fabric, cut out little hears, and stitched them into a bouquet, tied with a ribbon, which ended with the word CELEBRATE, the theme of the swap.

I had a lot of fun creating my first ever stitched postcard, and received a beautiful card in return.

heart trees and rainbow leaves

 I've been working on some tree pictures which will be stretched over canvases, this one is a heart tree, with a pink bird tweeting on a branch.

this rainbow tree is an antidote to all the grey, wet and gloomy weather outside, as the tree grows it's own rainbow leaves, and is home to a brightly coloured feathery friend.

you can never have too much sunshine inside when it's oh so cold outside!



Cottages on Canvas

I've been working on some cottage canvases, for the Arts Festival.
3 canvases = 21 houses, 21 doors, 84 teeny tiny windows...... several chimneys,
and a scattering of seagulls, for that seaside feeling!
