working on embroidery designs. - cow parsley.

To simplify the complexity of the flowers I printed out a photograph and drew in the main shapes, and highlighted particular flower heads that were prominent.

I then drew this out on paper to get a feel for the shape of the design, and also practised drawing the individual flower shapes a few times.

Then without marking the fabric it's over to the sewing machine, set up for free motion and draw with the needle.

Creating a frothy cloud of stitch.

I then repeated the steps to create some of the foliage. So delicate and pretty!

Both of these designs should be available for purchase on folksy soon. I'll let you know when.

Alnmouth 2014

A lovely weekend at the Alnmouth Art's Festival.

This Allium embroidery went to a new home in California.

It was lovely to meet so many people and see familiar faces from previous years.
Looking forward to next year already.

liberty love

I've just had my place confirmed at the 2014 Alnmouth Arts Festival.

Last year I bought this gorgeous print of the Alnmouth Estuary, it makes me smile every time I look at it.

I've started production of a shoal of lavender fish

here they are waiting to be stuffed.

eventually they will be packed in sets of three.
I have such fun choosing which ones should go together.

Amidst all the liberty love I found a few minutes to sew a liberty cushion for me.
The kit was a Christmas present and it made the cutest little 12" cushion that brings a pop of spring colour to the sofa.
